The Good Cheer Garden is a .4 acre garden that was installed in 2008. Located directly in front of the Food Bank, it is a busy and very public garden that hosts many service-learning groups. The Garden also serves as a demonstration garden to community members and food bank clients as well as a vegetable production space.
Since 2009 volunteers and staff have harvested between 5,000 and 9,000 pounds of produce from the Good Cheer Garden. Every Wednesday from Spring to Fall one can see volunteers harvesting and bagging produce, prepping beds, picking flowers, weeding, turning compost, and enjoying a picnic lunch together.
Come eat lunch at our picnic tables, walk through and admire the flower beds and small orchard, or come take a peak at how we grow so much food in our 3′ by 25′ garden beds.
