Volunteers are the soul of Good Cheer. Are you interested in helping provide fresh food to our community? There are many ways to get involved!
Good Cheer Garden: Every Wednesday from the first week of March, through the last week of October. Volunteers are welcome anytime after 9 am, no experience necessary. We share a picnic lunch at noon! If you plan on showing up for Wednesday afternoons, please contact the Garden Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can make plans for you.
Are you interested in volunteering another day (maybe even on the weekend)? Please let us know! We are working on expanding drop-in days but don’t know when most people are interested or available.
Food Bank Kitchen: Monday mornings we need help readying our Grocery Rescue and Farmers Market-gleaned produce for the store. There are frequent smaller work parties to preserve and process food during the harvest season. Contact the Produce Manager for more information.
Gleaning: There are a lot of old fruit trees around the Island. We are always looking for people to help pick fruit (and maybe do some light tree care) throughout the summer and fall.
We are actively looking for volunteers to help collect produce at the end of the Bayview Farmers Market. This is a critical source of produce for our food bank. If you are interested in being part of a small team and sharing this quick responsibility on Saturdays at 2 pm May-October, please contact our Gleaning Coordinator at email@example.com or by calling the food bank.
If you do not have time to volunteer, but have some money to spare please consider donating! Every little bit helps.
We are also always looking for garden related donations. In particular, the donations we rely on and regularly need more of are garden tools, wheelbarrows, and seeds. Wish list coming soon!
