The Bayview Garden was installed nearly 20 years ago as a school garden for the public alternative Bayview School. Good Cheer has helped steward the garden since 2012, and when the school became South Whidbey Academy and moved campuses to the old primary school in 2013 we continued to manage the 1/8th acre garden. Since 2014 it has become a practice space for the Good Cheer garden apprentice to put into practice the skills that they learn at the Good Cheer Garden.
Since 2014 the garden has grown between 600 and 1,400 pound of produce for the Food Bank. The garden is directly adjacent to the new Big ACRE, and now also provides food to the school cafeterias.
