The harvest continues with a bumper crop of Greengage plums (they really are sweet when they’re green) and the beautiful Orcas pears. Delicious! Our fruit trees, planted in 2009, are starting to produce.
The carrots have been magnificent. Third grade students from the Whidbey Island Waldorf School recently volunteered at the garden. They had the fun of harvesting them, and then weighed, bagged, labeled and brought them into the food bank.
Bok choi, basil, beets, lettuce, beans, tomatoes, arugula, spinach, kale, collards, chard, zucchini, cucumbers, the list is long and abundant!
Can’t resist a photo of our beautiful spinach, and enormous bok choi!
The flowers we’ve been growing to nourish the beneficial insects and pollinators are a feast for our eyes!
