Abundant harvests

Now you see it, now you don’t! The glorious lettuce bed went the way of all vegetables- harvested! We may have had a cold spring, but that hasn’t slowed down our lettuce, bok choi, kale and chard!

Cozy under their cloches, they have been growing quite nicely.

At our Wednesday work party the second week of May, we harvested 60 lbs of greens which we package in 1/2 pound bags, yielding 120 bags of produce brought into the food bank. The shelves were packed full….and it was all gone by Friday!

The time has come (we hope!) to plant the warm weather crops. We’re planting basil and tomatoes in the hoophouse.

The peas we planted in the hoophouse are just coming on, right when we need to plant tomatoes! We’ll pot on those tomatoes and they will have to be patient. Give peas a chance!
